Pukka Films

The Client:
Pukka Films are a film and animation production company based in London, with the ethos of delivering memorable, relevant, rewarding films that act as a catalyst for effective behaviour-change.

The Work:
I worked with Pukka on some small design briefs in 2020. This included supporting the team with an advert for the Coalition Against Gambling Advertising. Their aim was to ‘expose the threat the insidious relationship between gambling sponsorship and football poses to young children.’ I was involved in designing the football kit worn in the ad - a fun project and a cause I was pleased I could be involved with.

Coalition Against Gambling Advertising

The advert went viral on social media and despite having no media spend, the film had gained 6.3 million impressions, 1.5 million views, and 7k retweets after just one week. Its message was endorsed and retweeted by MPs, journalists, and Gary Lineker.

Above are a number of football crest designs I created for the project. The creative direction changed so only the shirt shown above was used in the final film but it was lots of fun to create them!

“Hannah worked with us on a commercial project for the Coalition Against Gambling Ads. The brief was one of those that is so simple it’s actually really difficult to pull off - to create a believable but fake football team’s crest, logo, name, and shirt and to then design a betting company’s logo to sit on top of it. This key part of the creative needed to be instantly readable; feel familiar but not recognizable as any one specific team or company and it had to be authentic. Working with Hannah was an easy and collaborative process, from initial conversations and sketches to the finished designs, and the client and I were delighted with the end product.”
