Kid’s Branding Workshop at Margate Festival of Design 2023

The Client:

The Margate Festival of Design is produced by
The Margate School. The School was founded on the principle that art, in all its forms, must connect with and benefit society and nature. The Margate Festival of Design 2023 explored how design can change the world we live in; from reviving the High Street to fighting for social justice. The festival programme included talks, workshops and exhibitions that invited visitors to learn, share ideas, get creative and celebrate the kind of design that helps us to believe that a brighter future is possible.

The Work:
Myself and Katie and Noel Leeman (Another Acronym) delivered a 2-hour children’s workshop, explaining why branding is important and introducing the key visual design elements that make up a brand – colour, typography and logos. After an introductory presentation, we began a hands-on session where the children rebranded shopfronts from Margate’s High Street. I designed a number of resources to help the kids build their shop branding and certificates to take home at the end of the session.
